KLEPINGER
This project held special meaning for Ashley, it was the full luxury remodel of her parents’ beloved home in Mesa, Arizona. While the house was rich in character and craftsmanship, it was time for a refresh that honored its architectural roots while bringing in a lighter, more current aesthetic.
Originally layered with gold-toned walls, black and cream kitchen cabinetry, and a dramatic black storefront Piano Room, the home had bold finishes that reflected a different era. Ashley’s parents dreamed of a more timeless look that felt fresh, soft, and true to them, without erasing the unique details that made the house theirs.
Many original elements were preserved, including the beautiful custom cabinetry by Burdette Cabinetry, a long-time trade partner of Ashley’s. The decision to keep the cabinetry in each space spoke to its quality and craftsmanship, now reimagined with a crisp white paint that allowed the detailing to shine. To create a seamless visual flow, the walls were painted in the same tone as the cabinetry, avoiding any unwanted undertones and creating a soft, serene backdrop. Durable, high-gloss finishes on all trim, beams, and door surrounds elevated the design while offering wipeable surfaces perfect for a home that welcomes grandchildren and guests regularly.
In the Powder Bathroom, Ashley brought in a touch of British Boho charm. A floating Cambria vanity with a 16-inch projection added a modern edge, paired with a Kohler undermount sink and streamlined brass faucet. The vanity wall was dressed in a soft pink wallpaper, framed with adjacent trimwork and finished with a pink fringe chandelier that offered a whimsical, unexpected twist.
The Kitchen saw the most dramatic shift. Ceiling wallpaper was removed to open up the space, and the cabinetry was refreshed with
The Laundry Room became a hidden gem. The original warm caramel wood cabinetry remained, balanced by new countertops, a fresh faucet, and a statement-making floral mural wallpaper installed in lieu of a traditional backsplash. A white wood bead chandelier added texture and warmth, transforming what was once a utilitarian space into one that felt layered, bright, and inviting.
The Kitchen saw the most dramatic shift. Ceiling wallpaper was removed to open up the space, and the cabinetry was refreshed with soft paint and unlacquered brass hardware, chosen specifically to patina over time and add story. A bridge-style brass faucet reminiscent of classic English design brought elegance to the sink area, while Cambria countertops and Visual Comfort pendants gave the expansive island a sense of purpose and polish. Above the French country–style dining table where Sunday family dinners are often shared, Ashley installed a trio of brass pendants in place of a single chandelier, creating rhythm, intimacy, and a nod to the layered style of European homes.
In the Family Room, the updates continued with custom Belgian linen curtains, soft mushroom-toned leather sofas, and a glass-and-brass chandelier that added warmth and depth. The palette was serene and organic, grounded in whites and wood tones that connected beautifully to the nearby cabinetry.
Finally, the Primary Bathroom was reimagined for both beauty and function. Large-format porcelain tile extended across the floors and into the walk-in shower, where a re-shaped arch niche now houses two brass towel hooks. Wall tiles were extended to full height behind the vanity and throughout the shower, enveloping the room in clean lines and subtle texture. Brass Kohler fixtures throughout brought cohesion and quiet luxury to this calming retreat.
Rooted in love and layered with intention, this remodel was more than just a design project, it was a personal journey. One that honored where Ashley came from, while creating a timeless and welcoming space for the people who raised her.
